A paper published few weekes ago on Molecular Medicine journal by BMC, highlights how High Mobility Group Box 1 (HMGB1) and other biomolecules influence fatigue in patients with Crohn’s diseases.
The research focuses on fatigue mechanisms related to Crohn’s diseas and on the activation of the innate immune system, with pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin (IL)-1β, acting on cerebral neurons. HMGB1 protein has interleukin-1 like properties and has a role in generation of fatigue in patients with Crohn’s disease, also with other interacting proteins.
This role, yet to be fully understood, opens new perspectives in studies related to fatique as a coordinated set of responses induced by pathogens, to enhance survival during infections and immunological dangers.
The researchers involved in the study have relied on HMGBiotech HMGB1 proteins: in particular it was used in ELISA experiment in which 96-well plates were coated with recombinant frHMGB1 purchased from HMGBiotech to capture anti-frHMGB1 abs.
